About Classis Red Mesa
Classis Red Mesa is an ecclesiastical grouping of twenty Christian Reformed churches and missions in Northwest New Mexico and Northeast Arizona. Our classis formed out of churches established through the Christian Reformed Church's first missionary outreach.
We meet formally three times a year, but work together all throughout the year encouraging and supporting each other and our churches. We work very actively together throughout the year was well on projects such as the Red Mesa Leadership Development Network and Cottonwood Pass Bible Conference.
Classis Red Mesa Funding
The churches of Classis Red Mesa each contribute monetary “shares” according to the number of their members to Classis ministries. These shares which together total around $20,000 help to fund joint endeavors such as Cottonwood Pass Bible Conference, the salary of a Pastor/Trainer, education and workshops and seminary tuition.
Church Ministry Training Fund
The Southwest Bible and Missionary Conference and other donors began a fund which provided the funds for Classis Red Mesa to support ministry training among Native Americans and their partners. The TEAMS (Theological Education and Ministry Skills) Committee has used this fund to provide extensive training opportunities in recent years. It also is using this fund to begin the Red Mesa Leadership Development Network.
Classical Home Missions Committee Fund
The Classis Red Mesa Home Missions Committee received the proceeds from the sale of some property several years back. It has used this fund to provide small seeds grants to churches to encourage them in ministry outreach. It also contributed significantly to the Native American Pastors Pension project.
